After accruing nearly $100k in student debt, Musk rejected his acceptance to Stanford Graduate School to build his first company Zip2, with his brother, Kimbal

That debt was gone after he sold Zip2 for $307 million, with a personal profit of $22 million

He soon co-founded X.com which merged to form PayPal and landed another successful acquisition of $1.5 billion

By age 30 Musk used $100 million of his fortune to build affordable rockets (SpaceX) and later became a primary investor of Tesla

In 2007, Musk took control of Tesla as a co-founder, eventually earning the role of CEO
